Our Community Kitchen could be considered the heart of our Foundation.

Whether you are coming in for Wednesday’s Community Lunch or stopping in for a coffee, the Community Kitchen is a warm and inviting space to learn, socialize, and enjoy some good food.

At The Nourish & Develop Foundation, following the FANS Food principle is important to us. This means providing access to Fresh, Affordable, Nutritious, and Seasonal food to our community. Our Community Kitchen is a key component of this practice. We are fortunate to be able to share fresh produce from our own Commons Farm as well as local farm partners in our meal preparation and Community Lunches.

We offer a variety of services from cooking classes to community preserving sessions. Perhaps our most popular Community Kitchen event is the weekly Community Lunch, where strangers become neighbours. Whether working on collaborative programs like Community Care’s Meals on Wheels or preparing food for our community’s most vulnerable, we strive to educate, support, and nurture the public’s relationship with local and nutritious food.

While our commercial kitchen is primarily used by our in-house chefs, the space is available to rent. This helps support our local entrepreneurs, our guest facilitators, and our community members by providing an affordable, accessible, and health department inspected kitchen to meet their needs. The Community Kitchen aims to give everyone, regardless of age or ability, an understanding of how to prepare healthy food, preserve fresh foods, and develop confidence in the kitchen.
