What is a Food Pantry?

Put simply, a Food Pantry is a food bank. We supply food to community members who need it.

What do I get in a Pantry order?

Typically, one order is a 5-day emergency supply of food, composed of non-perishable, fresh, frozen, and personal hygiene products. However, to accommodate current pandemic circumstances, orders have increased to 14-day.

How do I register for the Food Pantry?

Call us! Our staff will gladly help you register for our services.

Phone 705-432-2444 or 1-855-445-TNDF (8633).

What is the registration process like?

When you call, you will speak to one of our friendly staff members who will guide you through the simple process. We do require limited personal information (which is confidential) when you register.

Where does the food come from?

Our food comes from Feed the Need Durham, community donations, and local farms. We also supplement our supply based on community needs.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We try to accommodate all dietary restrictions. We are, however, subject to the food provided to us by our suppliers.

How often can I get a Pantry order?

Usually, Pantry pick-ups are once a month, but depend on the recipient’s circumstance.

Can someone else pick-up my Pantry order for me?

Usually, no. This is because we like to check in with our members, to make sure their needs are being met, and to ensure the food is getting to the right person and place. However, during the pandemic, we have been allowing external pick-ups to accommodate situations of quarantine, self-isolation, or lack of transportation.

Can you deliver my Pantry order?

No, our services do not include delivery. However, during the pandemic, deliveries may be available.

What is the Good Food Box?

The Good Food Box is an affordable basket with approximately 10 items of farm-fresh, local produce. For more information, click here.

How can I help the Food Pantry?

Thank you for asking! You can get involved by donating or volunteering.
