Each household is entitled to a 5 day supply of food, personal hygiene products, and household items, quantities are determined based on household size and the frequency of visits within a month.

During your first visit to the Nourish House, we will go through a short intake process that allows us to understand what yours and your families needs are, at this time you can let us know of any dietary restrictions or allergies and we can discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Aside from the initial intake, there are no eligibility criteria that you must meet to shop at the Nourish House. We believe everyone deserves access to fresh, nourishing, culturally appropriate foods.

What kind of food do you offer?

Our guiding principle of F-A-N-S (fresh, affordable, nutritious, and seasonal) determines what we stock the Nourish House with. We offer fresh produce, dairy and protein, as well as canned, dried and non-perishable items. We always consider your dietary and cultural needs and encourage our members to choose the foods and flavours that work best for them and their families. If you need advice or assistance with meal ideas, recipes or food preparation we are happy to assist.

Where does your Pantry food come from?

The majority of our food comes from Feed the Need Durham, community donations, and local farms. We also supplement our supply based on community needs. Cash donations allow us to purchase dairy, protein, or other items we may be short of. When we do shop, we always shop local!
