The Nourish Community Hub is a valuable community resource, where food, people, and ideas grow.

Under the leadership of The Nourish and Develop Foundation, plans and dreams of partners and programs were brought to fruition. Funded by the Slabodkin Family Trust, after years of community consultation and planning, the Nourish Community Hub was constructed in downtown Cannington to serve Brock Township and the surrounding area.

Formerly known as the Brandon Bakery, the renovations to upgrade the building were completed in the summer of 2015, and the doors were opened for community access. Every effort was made to retain as much of the original building as possible as a recognition of the heritage and character of our town.

During the planning phase, the community identified the need for a safe space where residents could access information and services. To meet this need, the Nourish Hub homes The Nourish and Develop Foundation and arranges for local organizations looking to expand their services into North Durham to offer much-needed outreach, community meetings, educational sessions, and recreational activities on site. It offers a safe place to get a meal, connect to services and resources, or simply meet neighbours around a table or outside in our gazebo.

To supplement what is currently offered in the community, the Nourish Hub also provides Learning Sessions in collaboration with other organizations and individuals in a series of classes, lectures, and one-off sessions based on specific topics. Common recurring topics include Food Handling, Smart Serve, First Aid, Babysitting, Stay Safe, Mental Health, and various others.

Friendly smiles will greet you Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm (excluding statutory holidays) to pass you information and resources, and assist you in a variety of ways to make your experience enjoyable!

The Nourish Hub is open for space rentals 7 days a week excluding holidays.

From the state-of-the-art commercial community kitchen, communal dining room, to the meeting rooms, and workstations on the second floor, this fully accessible facility offers a place to incubate new community projects, build on each other’s strengths, and create a collaborative space for community improvement.
