The Nourish and Develop Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization, located in Cannington, Ontario. Established in 2000 by the Slabodkin Family Trust, early activities were dedicated to children’s charities and other poverty alleviation efforts in Toronto. In 2011, The Nourish and Develop Foundation’s office opened in Cannington to fill the need for further community supports in Brock Township.
Over the past few years, TNDF has grown in more ways than one. We have added to our dedicated team of staff, recruited and trained new volunteers, increased and improved community programs, and researched and implicated new strategies to strengthen our community. Today, we support families and individuals through our Food Pantry and service hundreds more through our community programming.
Providing access to good food is just the beginning of our work. We believe that improving lives and building stronger communities is the result of working together with a sense of purpose. Our programs are developed to improve self-reliance and include projects that strengthen the community.
Our MISSION is to enhance local food security and promote self-reliance through collaborative programs and partnerships that deliver lasting solutions and life-long learning.
We have a VISION for building inclusive and collaborative communities together.
Are the key that guides our day-to-day work
PARTICIPATION: Everyone can contribute to and influence the matters concerning their lives.
COLLABORATION: We work in partnership to share resources and develop mutual understanding.
FAIRNESS: Our commitment to this community is to treat all people with respect and dignity.
BEST PRACTICE: We learn from every experience to become wiser and better at what we do.
We are an organization committed to community building — where people can receive more than just access to food and services. Community members not only build skills, confidence, and friendship but are encouraged and have the opportunity to exercise leadership and be part of the solution.
Our programs provide holistic support to people who want to rise above and break the cycle of poverty. We offer hand-ups to members who take responsibility for their progress and provide referrals that connect members to emotional, social, educational, and financial resources that are tailored to the individual needs of our members.
