Why Volunteer at TNDF?

How do I Become a Volunteer?

Complete an online application or download and fill out a PDF application and email it to jennifer.barnes@tndf.ca or drop it off at 16 York Street, Cannington.

Once we have reviewed your application, we may contact you to arrange a brief in-person, phone, or virtual interview so we can get to know each other better. The purpose of the interview is to gain a thorough understanding of your preferences and goals, ensuring a well-matched placement.

Upon successful completion of an interview, we will contact your character references. Where applicable, we will complete other screening measures (vulnerable sector check, driver’s abstract, etc.).

Upon successful completion of screening, we will officially onboard you as a volunteer! We will introduce you to our team, offer you an overview of our organization, review our policies, have you sign a Volunteer Agreement, and set you up with on-the-job training.

“I first became aware of TNDF when I met Tiffany and Kate at the Mobile Food Market. I was so impressed with them and the program that I went to the TNDF website to find out more. What an amazing organization, doing so much to help our community! The staff is delightful, full of enthusiasm, dedication and gratitude! I thoroughly enjoy volunteering with TNDF and love having the opportunity to give back.”

Employment Opportunities

Celebrating the collective strength of our team as we grow together.

If you’re seeking fulfilling employment within a dynamic and supportive team and are passionate about addressing food (in)security, we’re eager to connect with you!

The Perks:

Given that poverty is at the root of food insecurity, we believe fully in the importance of paying a living wage. We are thrilled to be officially recognized as a certified living wage employer at the Champion Level.

What is the difference between minimum wage and a living wage?

Minimum wage is set by the provincial government and is the legislated minimum all employers must pay, while a living wage reflects what people need to earn in order to cover the actual costs of living in their community. The living wage is calculated on the needs of a family of four, with two adults each working full-time, full-year.
